WHR (Waist to Hip Ratio) The Stepford Rules of Attraction.

Wednesday, January 15th, 2014

We once saw a tv program that mentioned the ideal Waist to Hip Ratio for a woman that men would find attractive. According to the rules of the Stepford Wives Organization, we girls must do all we possibly can to fit into the exact specifications of what men desire and find attractive. We will provide all the hyperlinks at the end of this article so you can go play around with your measurements and numbers if you chose to.

For now, let’s focus on what that magic Waist-to-Hip Ratio entails.

That magic number is 6.7, according to an article in livescience.com.

So here is the chart of the perfect whr (not to be confused with waist-to-height ratio). Notice the inclusion of a 1959 Barbie doll as a comparison. Even though we know it’s next to impossible to get a Barbie figure, we know getting as close to it as possible is what men would want us to be. Also note the 36-24-36, considered the classic proportion for what is considered a beautiful body.

The Stepford Wives Organization Perfect Woman Measurements Waist-to-Hip Ratio

We didn’t go above 26 inches because that’s already getting into what our guys would consider “overweight.” So ladies and girls, it’s the New Year! Hit the gym, buy a corset, and cut down on the junk food (preferably all three…simultaneously!).

It’s time to get into shape for the pleasure of a man’s gaze!

A Seventies Wedding by Art Hanson from the National Archives.

Although we have mentioned in the past that Bryan Forbes’s decision to dress Stepford Wives in flowery Victorian dresses was a choice made to flatter his wife/actress Nannette Newman The outfits depicted in the original 1975 Stepford Wives movie were indicative of the period’s fashion. Have a look at this delightful collection of wedding photos by Art Hanson in the National Archives’ Documerica Gallery. Click here for more.

Always Daddy’s Little Girl

Though we have mentioned in past entries that there isn’t a particular dress code to the Stepford housewife, we girls do cherish certain styles and symbols in our daily outfits. We start with a simple theme: "Daddy’s little girl." And we build from there.

"Daddy’s little girl" brings us back to the time of our childhood, when we are seen as unmarried little girls who were well-behaved and obedient to the male heads of our households. It also reminds us to remain pure and true to our calling as wives. As being less learned and knowledgeable as our husbands, dressing with little girl motifs also displays to our husbands that we are wives playing house in our little homes, taking care of our men. It’s a gentle reminder for them to talk simply to us when explaining the complicated matters in their world.

While wearing ribbons, bows, ruffles, and lace (only one or two at a time please and not altogether at once!) enhances our delicate side, it also establishes an appearance that takes constant work and maintenance to upkeep. These are things that show our men that we make that extra effort to appear decorative while pleasing them at all times. And they sure do appreciate that!

Betty Crocker Then And Now: Why It Will Always Be Important To Look Your Best

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

betty crocker then and now

Above is a rundown of what we have come to view as the Betty Crocker figure in our respective times. Now it may initially appear to be a joke, but if you think about it, many things we use to do are no longer done. Just about the only events people dress up for today is Church, Marriage, and Funerals. (In that order). But we still remember the days when our moms dressed up to go shopping, to go on airplane flights, to just any form of travel.

These days, the default is to let it all hang out, “do your thing.” And we think that’s a mistake. Take a look at the 9 Betty’s above? You can pick the odd one out even without reading spectacles!

Stepford Wife Doormat

stepford wife doormat. step on me

A few of the guys in our husbands’ club told us to get personalized doormats for our homes. We wanted to get nice floral ones, but were told we should get these instead. We thought it was a great idea since they seem, for some reason unknown to us, to be quite tickled by it. So we are looking into it! We just wished there were a pair of pretty daisies up at the corner.

I Will Be An Obedient Wife, I Will – Yes I Will!

Monday, October 18th, 2010

British musicians Sam Richards and Tish Stubbs got together to perform this old folk song that can be found in THE SHILLING Song Book A COLLECTION OF 175 OF THE MOST FAVORITE National, Partiotic, Sentimental, and Comic. BALLADS OF THE DAY by W.E. Tunis. It is also mentioned in the The Arkansas Traveler’s Songbook. It is written in 1835 by Alexander Lee. We are not sure whether it is an American or English folk song, although that tends to be a casual borrowing of melodies in those early times. We are sharing the original with you, followed by our modernised version.

I’LL BE NO SUBMISSIVE WIFE.
by Alexander Lee

I’ll be no submissive wife,
No, not I-no, not I;
I’ll not be a slave for life,
No, not I-no, not I;
I’ll be no submissive wife,
No, not I-no, not I;
I’ll not be a slave for life,
No, not I-no, not I !
Think you, on a wedding-day,
That I said, as others say,
“Love, and honor, and obey-
Love, and honor, and obey”?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, not I!

Chorus, ” Love, and honor, and obey-
Love, and honor, and obey”?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, not I;
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, not I;
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, not I

I to dulness don’t incline,
No, not I-no, not I;
Go to bed at half-past nine ?
No, not I-no, not I !
I to dulness don’t incline,
No, not I-no, not I;
Go to bed at half-past nine?
No, not I-no, not I !
Should a humdrum husband say
That at home I ought to stay,
Do you think that I’ll obey-
Do you think that I’ll obey?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, not I!
Do you think that I’ll obey-
Do you think that I’ll obey?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, not I
No, no, no, etc.

No here is our version:

I’LL WILL BE AN OBEDIENT WIFE.
by the Stepford Wives Organization

I’ll be an obedient wife,
Yes I will – yes I will;
I’ll be an obedient wife,
Yes I will – yes I will;
I’ll be an obedient wife,
Yes I will – yes I will;
Think you, on a wedding-day,
That I said, as others say,
“Love, and honor, and obey-
Love, and honor, and obey”?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I will!

Chorus, ” Born to please, live to serve-
Born to serve, live to please”?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I will!
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I will!
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I will!

I to argue don’t incline,
No, not I-won’t opine;
Go to bed at half-past nine ?
No, not I-no, not I !
I to disagree, don’t incline,
No, not I-won’t opine;
When he wants pleasure anytime?
No, not I-Won’t deny!
Should a humdrum husband say
That at home I ought to stay,
Do you think that I’ll obey-
Do you think that I’ll obey?
Of course I will that’s the Stepford way!
Do you think that I’ll obey-
Do you think that I’ll obey?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, that’s the Stepford way!
